Learning that your child has a disability is one of the most difficult things for a parent to hear. The anger, confusion, depression and devastation that go along with this news are all common reactions. It can be difficult for a parent to cope with this news when they don’t know where to go for help.
Family Support Network’s Parent-to-Parent Outreach Program provides emotional support, information, and resources to parents of a child born “at risk” for a developmental or cognitive delay or having a serious medical condition. Peer parents are available 24 hours a day to meet the needs of these families.
In addition, this program offers support groups for parents . These support group are run by FSN’s parent mentors. Visit our support groups page for a complete schedule, including faith-based and Spanish language groups.
In 2015, FSN’s Parent-to-Parent Outreach Program served 987 families who had children with special needs.
